Governor Adeleke Warns Osun Monarchs Against Renewed Communal Clashes

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has issued a strong warning to the traditional rulers of Ifon Osun, Erin Osun, and Ilobu communities, stating that the government will not hesitate to depose any monarch who fails to sustain peace in their domain.

The warning follows intelligence reports indicating that some faceless groups are planning fresh attacks in the conflict-prone areas. In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke emphasized that security agencies have been placed on high alert to prevent any outbreak of violence.

“In the midst of the Sallah celebrations, I received reports of renewed plots to instigate another round of conflict in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun. Security agencies are already conducting heightened surveillance and interrogating key actors in the crisis. The peace agreements signed by community leaders must be taken seriously, as those responsible will be held accountable before the law,” the governor stated.

Governor Adeleke further cautioned that while the government had relaxed the curfew on humanitarian grounds, any attempt to exploit this goodwill for renewed violence will lead to the full reimposition of a 24-hour curfew.

“Let me make it clear: if violence erupts again, I will remove from office any traditional ruler found complicit. This is not a mere warning—it is a firm commitment to restoring lasting peace. Enough is enough!" Adeleke declared.

The governor urged all royal fathers to take responsibility by calling their subjects to order, assuring residents that his administration remains committed to peace, security, and justice for all communities in Osun State.
