The Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has strongly
condemned the brutal killing of 16 innocent travellers in Edo State, describing
the act as inhumane and unjustifiable.
In a statement issued by Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi Oseni,
NASFAT’s National Public Relations Secretary, the Chief Missioner, Imam
Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike, decried the silence from religious leaders and
influencers, emphasizing that "silence in the face of injustice makes one
complicit."
Imam Onike called on all Nigerians to speak out against
violence and discrimination, stressing that every human life is sacred. Quoting
the Qur’an (Q5:32), he reminded the nation that “killing an innocent soul is
akin to killing all of mankind.” He further urged restraint against any
reprisal attacks, describing the tragedy as a test of faith that requires
patience, forgiveness, and collective resolve to foster peace.
NASFAT President, Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf,
echoed the call for national unity and compassion, urging Nigerians to rise
above religious and ethnic divides in these trying times. He called on security
agencies to intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, ensuring
that such acts do not go unpunished.
The NASFAT leadership concluded with prayers for the victims
and their families, expressing hope that justice, peace, and harmony will
prevail in Nigeria.
