Her decision to proceed with the visit comes just hours after the Kogi State Government imposed a ban on public gatherings and rallies, citing security concerns.
In a statement issued on Monday, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, explained that the measure was taken to prevent potential security threats following reports of violent activities in Kogi Local Government Area, where two lives were lost in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette.
Fanwo also claimed that intelligence reports indicated plans by certain individuals to organize “violent rallies under the guise of political and religious agitations” in Kogi Central.
