Adeola, the 41-year-old daughter of veteran Yoruba actress Jumoke George, who had been missing for four years, has been found in Mali.
Jumoke revealed the heartbreaking disappearance during a recent interview on the Talk to B show hosted by actress Abiola Bayo. She explained that Adeola had been living with her grandmother in Ibadan and was last seen after telling the family she was travelling to Lagos. After years of silence, Adeola recently re-established contact, seeking forgiveness and explaining she had travelled abroad with friends in search of better opportunities.
In the same interview, Jumoke disclosed that she had been grappling with serious health and financial challenges. Her condition had forced her to turn down acting roles, refund payments, and borrow funds for medical treatment. She revealed that additional tests costing about ₦400,000 were still needed and that much of her earnings from the occasional jobs she managed to secure went into efforts to find Adeola.
Fighting back tears, the actress said shame and fear of ridicule had initially stopped her from speaking out. “There are some things that are embarrassing to say, but at this point, I have no choice,” she shared. She added that her irregular work schedule, coupled with her deteriorating health, had worsened her situation.
“She was living with my mother in Ibadan. One day, my mum called to say she hadn’t seen Adeola, who claimed she was coming to meet me in Lagos. But I hadn’t seen her either,” she recalled.
On Wednesday, Talk to B host Biola Bayo provided an update confirming that Adeola had been found in Mali. Biola stated that she had spoken with Adeola via a video call. Although Adeola has yet to speak directly with her mother, the news of her safety has brought immense relief to Jumoke.
Biola also shared that Jumoke George is currently receiving treatment at a state hospital in Lagos and is undergoing further medical evaluation. “Hopefully she will be discharged or admitted after all her medical tests and reports. Not sure yet,” Biola said on Instagram, thanking the public for their support.
