Immigration Hikes Passport Fees to ₦100,000 and ₦200,000

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new upward review of passport application fees, effective September 1, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday, the NIS said the adjustment applies only to applications made within Nigeria.

Under the new rates, the 32-page passport with 5-year validity will cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will cost ₦200,000.

The statement, however, clarified that fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year booklet and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year booklet.

According to the Service, the adjustment is aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring accessibility for citizens.

This latest review comes barely a year after the Federal Government approved a similar increment in August 2024, which took effect from September 1, 2024. At that time, the 32-page, five-year passport was raised from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000, while the 64-page, 10-year passport increased from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000.

The NIS had explained then that the increment was necessary to sustain the quality of the Nigerian passport and enhance service delivery.
