The Federal Ministry of Education has launched its Communication Strategy (2025–2027), a comprehensive framework aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement in Nigeria’s education sector.
The launch, held on September 29, 2025, at the Ministry’s Podium in Abuja, brought together senior government officials, development partners, civil society leaders, the media, and other stakeholders.
In his keynote address, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, underscored the critical role of communication in driving reforms and building public trust. “Education is not only about classrooms and textbooks; it is about shaping the destiny of our children and the prosperity of our nation,” he said.
Dr. Alausa commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising education under the Renewed Hope Agenda and for approving the highest-ever budgetary allocation to the sector. He also acknowledged the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her contributions through the Renewed Hope Initiative Scholars’ Scheme and the National Library Project.
The strategy is designed to support the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), which focuses on six priority areas: free and fully funded education in technical schools, expansion of medical and nursing training institutions, and the retraining of teachers in Artificial Intelligence, among others.
The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, highlighted the need for clear and accessible communication to sustain reforms, while praising the support of PLANE and the UK International Development in developing the strategy.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abel Enitan—represented by the Director of EPR&D—described the launch as a turning point in how the Ministry engages with Nigerians.
Goodwill messages came from the Director-General of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission (NSSSEC), and other agency heads. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations.
With this launch, the Federal Ministry of Education pledged to tell Nigeria’s education story with one voice, ensuring reforms, policies, and achievements resonate with stakeholders while reinforcing the Renewed Hope Agenda for the nation’s children.
