FCT NSCDC Elevates 402 Officers, Urges Renewed Dedication to National Service

The Federal Capital Territory Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olusola Odumosu, has called on newly promoted officers to view their advancement as a mandate for higher responsibility and enhanced service delivery to the nation.

Odumosu made the remarks on Tuesday during the decoration ceremony of 402 newly promoted officers of the FCT Command at the Command Headquarters in Abuja, describing the occasion as more than a routine promotion exercise.

“Today is not just a celebration of new ranks; it is a celebration of dedication, discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment to national service,” he said.

He conveyed the goodwill of NSCDC Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Audi to the officers, noting that promotion is not an entitlement but a call to greater discipline, higher responsibility, and improved service to the Corps and the country.

The FCT commandant highlighted key achievements of the Command, attributing them to strong leadership, personnel dedication, and collaboration with other security agencies. He said the Command had enhanced security across the Federal Capital Territory through intelligence-driven operations, proactive patrols, and rapid response to threats, while also protecting critical national assets, including government facilities and public utilities.

Odumosu underscored the role of the Agro-Rangers Unit in mitigating farmer-herder conflicts in rural and peri-urban communities, describing it as essential to food security and peaceful coexistence.

On economic sabotage, he disclosed that the Command had made significant strides in 2025, arresting 112 vandals and over 50 illegal miners, followed by successful prosecutions. Offences included vandalism of armoured and fibre optic cables, theft of telecommunications equipment, destruction of masts and billboards, dismantling of street lights, and theft of solar panels and poles.

He emphasised the importance of continuous training and retraining in intelligence gathering, election security, crowd control, disaster management, and inclusive security practices, adding that community engagement and public education had strengthened trust between the Corps and residents.

“Our commitment to inclusive security is evident in targeted training programmes that enhance professionalism, human rights compliance, and effective service delivery to all segments of society,” Odumosu said.

He urged the promoted officers to wear their new ranks with humility, integrity, and renewed zeal, while serving as role models to their subordinates and upholding loyalty to the Constitution.

Concluding the event, Odumosu commended all officers of the FCT command for their sacrifices and reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to professionalism, accountability, and effective security service delivery.

In December 2025, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board approved the promotion of 24,202 senior officers across four paramilitary agencies under its supervision. This included 11,426 officers in the Correctional Service, 4,336 in the Immigration Service, 2,581 in the Fire Service, and 5,859 in the Civil Defence Corps, with promotions based on national spread, performance, ratification, good records, and available vacancies.
