Jigawa Police Nab 10 Suspects, Recover Drugs, Stolen Motorcycle, Cows and Camel in Statewide Crackdown

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in a series of coordinated operations targeting armed robbery, drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state.

This was disclosed on Monday in Dutse by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Shi’isu Adam, who said the simultaneous operations led to the arrest of one wanted armed robbery suspect and nine other suspects. He added that 7,028 wraps of illicit drugs were seized, including rubber solutions, “suck and die,” and dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

According to Adam, seven of the suspects are believed to be drug dealers and consumers. They include Nadabo Ibrahim, 25, of Kwanar Garki; Alkassaim Sa’idu, 27, of Acauya village in Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area; Ibrahim Sambo, 22, of Bitinariya Quarters, Hadejia LGA; Usman Abubakar, 30, of Dunari Quarters; Aminu Muhd, 25, of Dunari Quarters; Yusuf Sale, 22, of Nassarawa Quarters; and Ibrahim Ismail, 23, of Marakawa Quarters in Ringim LGA.

The police spokesman further revealed that operatives of the ‘B’ Division in Hadejia recovered a white Jincheng motorcycle that had earlier been reported stolen from a residence in Rinde Quarters, Hadejia town.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect or suspects connected with the theft, while the recovered motorcycle has since been returned to its rightful owner on bond,” Adam said.

In another operation, officers attached to the Malam-Madori Division recovered two cows suspected to have been rustled at the outskirts of Dunari Quarters. Adam explained that the suspects abandoned the animals and fled into a nearby bush. He added that efforts had been stepped up to identify the rightful owner of the cows, arrest those behind the rustling and curb cattle-related crimes in the area.

The command also confirmed the arrest of Shu’aibu Musa, a wanted armed robbery suspect, in connection with a camel theft. A stolen camel was recovered from him, and he has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for thorough investigation and prosecution.

In Sundimina town, police arrested a suspected phone thief, Abdullahi Isyaku, 20, and a receiver of stolen phones, Nasir Saleh, 30. The suspects allegedly stole one Infinix Smart 10, one Tecno Camon 19, one Itel keypad phone and ₦20,000 in cash. The phones were reportedly sold for ₦61,000. Adam said the suspects have been arraigned in court and investigations have been concluded.

He stressed that public support through timely and credible information remains crucial in the fight against crime, urging residents of the state to continue cooperating with the police.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command recently arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a legal practitioner, Chigbo Princess, and alleged “one-chance” armed robbery operations in Abuja. The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, tracked the victim’s mobile phone using digital intelligence and carried out operations between January 5 and 10 in Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities in Kubwa.
