The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi State has arrested 157 suspects and seized a total of 134.483 kilograms of illicit drugs between October and December 2025.
The Ebonyi State NDLEA Commander, Mr. Jude Ahamefule, disclosed this on Monday in Abakaliki while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria. He explained that the arrests involved 123 males and 34 females, out of whom six have already been convicted.
According to Ahamefule, the seized drugs included cannabis sativa, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam and other psychotropic substances. He provided a breakdown of the seizures as cannabis sativa (106.978kg); tramadol 100mg, 2,619 capsules; methamphetamine, 1.407kg (303 pinches); diazepam, 0.0589kg (700 tablets); phenobarbitone syrup, 480ml, among others.
He also revealed that within the period under review, four clients were rehabilitated and discharged, while six others were newly admitted. Currently, a total of 12 clients are undergoing rehabilitation at the NDLEA facility, while 44 suspects were referred to the command’s counselling unit.
Ahamefule reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state and urged those involved in the illegal trade to desist in the interest of the state and the nation.
The NDLEA is a federal law enforcement agency responsible for eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting and trafficking of hard drugs across the country.
