NIS Enhances Passport Tracking System to Improve Collection Process

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has introduced an updated passport tracking feature designed to help applicants better monitor the status of their passport applications.

The update followed the discovery that hundreds of passports already produced by the Service remained uncollected, a situation that had triggered growing complaints from applicants.

Under the new system, a feature tagged “Produced (Passport Produced, Ready for Collection)” now clearly notifies applicants when their passports are ready for pick-up.

The upgrade improves the existing tracking platform by offering clearer distinctions between passports that have been produced and are awaiting physical collection and those that have been produced but are yet to be delivered through courier services.

According to the NIS, the update is aimed at enhancing transparency, reducing processing delays, and keeping applicants better informed about their passport application timelines.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to providing an efficient, transparent, and user-friendly passport processing system in line with global best practices.
