The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man, Peter Adubi, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
In a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan, the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the arrest followed a report filed on January 8, 2026, at about 8:50 p.m. by the girl’s guardian.
Ayanlade explained that the guardian noticed unusual sexual-related behavioural changes in the minor. Upon careful questioning, she disclosed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while living with her mother in the Molade area of Ibadan.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the offence during that period. This disclosure led to immediate medical intervention to confirm the facts of the case,” Ayanlade said. “The minor was taken to the hospital for examination, which confirmed sexual abuse. The medical evidence strengthened the case and guided the next steps in the investigation.”
The statement added that Adubi was taken into custody, the crime scene was inspected, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gender Desk, for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The Oyo State Police Command assured residents that justice would be diligently pursued and urged community members to remain vigilant, reporting any incidents of sexual abuse promptly, emphasizing that cooperation is essential to safeguarding children and ensuring a safer society.
