The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in Gwewan Village, Song Local Government Area, and arrested one suspected kidnapper.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the command, said the operation followed the kidnapping of Rabe Mamman Sani, 18, and Aminu Mamman Sani, 16, and was made possible through the strategic deployment of combined security assets directed by Commissioner of Police Dankwambo Morris.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested one suspected kidnapper during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area,” the statement read.
The rescue occurred during a raid on the kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026. Nguroje said that on sighting security operatives, the suspects engaged the team in a gun duel but eventually fled with possible gunshot injuries, abandoning the two victims, who were rescued unharmed.
One suspect, Sanda Bello, 22, from Salasa Village, Dumne, was arrested during the operation. According to Nguroje, Bello has confessed to his involvement in the crime.
The rescued victims were immediately taken to hospital for medical examination, while efforts continue to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command has been directed to conduct a discreet investigation.
Commissioner of Police Dankwambo Morris commended the synergy between police operatives and local security actors, assuring residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He also urged the public to report any suspicious individuals, particularly those with bullet wounds, to the nearest security agency.
