EFCC Arrests 20 Over Vote Buying, Electoral Violations in FCT Polls

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested 20 individuals for various electoral offences during the recent local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory.

The agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement issued Sunday in Abuja. He said the suspects were apprehended in different parts of the territory for alleged offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstructing election officials, with about ₦17.2 million reportedly linked to the activities.

According to him, one suspect was caught with ₦13.5 million inside a vehicle parked close to a polling unit in Kwali Local Government Area. Arrests were also made across several locations: two suspects in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.

Oyewale stated that the suspects would be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
