Nigerian singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has raised concerns over an alleged ban on music shows in Nigeria during the Islamic Ramadan period.
The Baby Riddim singer revealed that her plans to hold a birthday concert on March 13 have faced repeated setbacks, as promoters reportedly informed her that concerts are not permitted during Ramadan.
Taking to X, Fave wrote, “So I was tryna do a show in Nigeria on my birthday this year but they’re telling me shows aren’t allowed during Ramadan? I’m a little confused.”
She added that multiple promoters rejected her proposed show because it coincides with the Ramadan period. Fave stressed that she is a Christian and argued that Ramadan practices should not affect her plans or business.
“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste and back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing. I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religions. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy,” she wrote.
