A 37-year-old man was reportedly killed by his brothers following a violent dispute over family inheritance in Ekwulobia.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama stated that the incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on February 11, 2026, at Umunkwo Village, Ula, Ekwulobia.
The victim, identified as Onyedika Okpala, was allegedly attacked with machetes by two of his brothers, Okwudili Okpala and Chigbo Okpala, during a heated argument over property and inheritance rights.
A family source revealed that the suspects inflicted severe head injuries on Onyedika, causing profuse bleeding and collapse at the scene.
The victim’s sister reportedly alerted the police, who dispatched a team of operatives. However, the suspects had fled before their arrival.
Onyedika was rushed to the General Hospital, Ekwulobia, where a doctor on duty confirmed him dead on arrival. His body has been deposited in the hospital morgue pending autopsy.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
