JAMB Temporarily Halts Exam Town Selection for 2026 UTME Candidates in Ekiti

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has temporarily suspended the selection of examination towns for candidates registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ekiti State.

The board made this announcement on Tuesday in Abuja through its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. He explained that the suspension is intended to allow JAMB restructure examination towns to bring them closer to candidates and reduce transportation challenges on exam days.

Although candidates are usually allowed to choose examination towns near their locations, Benjamin noted that structural anomalies were detected in Ekiti’s examination town configuration after the 2026 UTME registration began.

“These anomalies necessitated urgent adjustments in the interest of candidates, prompting the temporary suspension of town selection in the state,” he said.

Benjamin added that candidates will be unable to select any examination town in Ekiti while the adjustment process is ongoing, which is expected to be concluded shortly.

“The board regrets any inconvenience this temporary measure may cause candidates wishing to select examination towns in the ongoing registration exercise in Ekiti State. As a matter of practice, JAMB continuously monitors its operations and promptly addresses challenges reported by candidates,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to improving its processes to ensure that all candidates are treated with dignity and respect.
