Makinde Names Major-General Omoniyi as Oyo State Security Adviser

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Major-General Lukman Tokunbo Omoniyi (rtd) as the state’s Executive Adviser on Security Coordination.

The appointment, effective immediately, was communicated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

Governor Makinde congratulated Major-General Omoniyi on his new role and tasked him with enhancing the coordination of security operations across the state to safeguard lives and property in all communities.

Major-General Omoniyi (rtd) is a seasoned senior infantry officer who held various command, staff, and instructional positions during his career in the Nigerian Army.

He holds two Master of Science degrees—one in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies and another in Strategic Studies—from the University of Ibadan, where he is also pursuing a doctoral programme in Peace, Security, and Humanitarian Studies.

Omoniyi’s appointment reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening security management and strategic planning in Oyo State.
