Wolves Condemn Racist Abuse Directed at Arokodare After Missed Penalty

Wolverhampton Wanderers have strongly condemned racist abuse aimed at their Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare, following his missed penalty in a defeat to Crystal Palace.

The incident came to light after Arokodare revealed on his social media page that he received racist messages after failing to convert the spot-kick. Posting via Instagram, he expressed shock that such abuse still occurs, writing that it was “unbelievable” people could freely post racist remarks without consequences.

In response, the club issued a statement on its official channels describing the messages as “disgusting,” noting that multiple perpetrators had targeted the player online after the match.

“There is no place for racism in football, online, or anywhere in society. We condemn this abhorrent and unlawful behaviour in the strongest possible terms,” the club said, adding that it would collaborate with social media platforms, authorities, and the Premier League to ensure appropriate action is taken.

Wolves said Arokodare has the club’s “full and unwavering support,” stressing that no footballer should face hatred simply for doing their job. The club confirmed it has reported the offending posts and will continue enforcing a zero-tolerance stance against discrimination.
