Yoruba Film Actress Aunty Ajara Passes Away After Prolonged Illness

Veteran Yoruba film actress, Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, has passed away after a prolonged illness.

The actress died in the early hours of Thursday, according to a confirmation by her family.

The news of her death was announced by her brother, Ridwan Lasisi, in a video message shared online, where he expressed gratitude to colleagues and members of the public for the support shown during her illness.

Confirming her passing, Ridwan said doctors informed the family of her death earlier in the day.

“Good morning to you all. My name is Ridwan Lasisi. I am a brother to Ajara. The doctor confirmed to us this morning that Ajara has passed on,” he said.

He thanked the Yoruba film community and well-wishers for their goodwill and support, while also appealing to the public to stop sending financial assistance previously meant for her medical treatment.

“All the families, we are using this period to appreciate you all. We appreciate the president and all industry members.

“We also use this opportunity to appeal to those sending money not to send it anymore. The one we are contributing for her sake is no more. Thank you so much. We do not want you to send money into that account again,” he added.

Ajara Lasisi’s health condition became public last week after fellow actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke appealed for financial support on her behalf.

Oshodi-Oke had revealed that the actress was hospitalised in critical condition, reliant on an oxygen machine, and that her health continued to deteriorate despite intensive medical care and the high cost of treatment.
