Benjamin Hundeyin Removed as Nigeria Police Force Spokesperson Six Months Into Role

The Nigeria Police Force has removed ACP Benjamin Hundeyin from his position as Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), just six months after his appointment. The development was confirmed on Thursday, March 5, 2026, and comes amid an ongoing leadership reshuffle following the appointment of IGP Tunji Disu as the new Inspector‑General of Police.

Hundeyin, who was appointed Force PRO in September 2025 by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, quickly became a prominent public voice for the force, particularly in media engagements and on social platforms. His career also includes service as Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command and participation in international peacekeeping missions such as the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur.

The police have not officially disclosed the reason for Hundeyin’s removal, though sources indicate it is part of standard administrative adjustments that often accompany the arrival of new leadership. As of now, a replacement for the Force PRO role has not been named, and an official announcement from the Office of the Inspector‑General of Police is expected in the coming days.

Hundeyin’s departure marks a significant change in the force’s communication team, given his visibility and role in shaping public engagement and media relations for the Nigeria Police Force over the past six months.
