Nasir El-Rufai, ex-governor of Kaduna State, has returned to the Federal High Court for the continuation of his trial over alleged financial improprieties.
The former governor arrived at the court premises under a tight but orderly security presence, with officials closely monitoring activities as proceedings resumed.
El-Rufai’s court appearance follows his temporary release by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which reportedly granted him permission to attend the funeral rites of his late mother, Umma El-Rufai.
She passed away in Cairo, Egypt, prompting what sources describe as a compassionate release by the anti-corruption agency. However, the ICPC has not officially disclosed the specific terms or conditions attached to the temporary bail.
As proceedings continue, uncertainty remains over whether El-Rufai will retain his temporary freedom or be remanded back into ICPC custody pending further rulings by the court.
