Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has opened up about the strained relationship he once had with his father over his decision to pursue music.
Speaking during a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the Sungba crooner revealed that his father strongly opposed his career choice, leading to a period of tension between them.
Asake recounted that although he shared a close bond with his father while growing up, things took a different turn when he decided to leave home to follow his passion.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now, but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he said.
The singer’s family situation previously drew public attention in March 2025, when his father, Fatai Odunsi, accused him of neglect and abandonment.
However, following widespread backlash, the duo later reconciled, with Asake taking responsibility for his father’s welfare.
