Ireti Doyle Breaks Silence on Divorce, Says ‘My Private Life Is Not Public Property’

Veteran Nollywood actress Ireti Doyle has spoken candidly about her decision to keep details of her divorce out of the public space, insisting that her personal life is not open for public scrutiny.

Speaking during an interview on The Morayo Show, Doyle addressed questions surrounding the silence that followed the end of her marriage, making it clear that the public was never entitled to an explanation.

“First of all, you didn’t hear anything because it was none of your business. The only people you owe any explanation, if at all, are those small family and friends that gathered on day one. You see this larger audience that you are performing for, they do not care,” she said.

The actress stressed that her priority after the breakup was healing, reflection, and personal growth, rather than seeking validation or sympathy from the public.

Doyle also explained that she deliberately chose not to turn the painful experience into a public spectacle or use it for attention.

“I personally won’t give myself as clickbait. The end of a long-term marriage is painful, so all that energy you are using to perform for an audience who doesn’t care should be used to sit down and understand what went wrong for the sole purpose of not making the same mistake again,” she added.

She maintained that deeply personal experiences such as divorce are better handled with introspection and privacy, rather than being placed before the public for consumption.
