Nigerian hip-hop star Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has named veteran lyricist Mode 9 as the greatest Nigerian rapper of all time.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Hip-hop To Afrobeats podcast, the 44-year-old artist praised Mode 9’s enduring influence on the Nigerian rap scene, describing him as the most respected rapper in the country.
M.I highlighted Mode 9’s impact on upcoming artistes, noting that he has inspired a generation of rappers through his lyrical excellence and dedication to the craft.
He also commended the veteran’s consistency and contribution to the growth of Nigerian hip-hop, referring to him as a “legend.”
“Mode 9 is always gonna be the most respected Nigerian rapper of all time because he is a rapper that when you found him, you didn’t need to visit anybody else to improve your craft,” he said.
