Ambode Backs Hamzat as APC Consensus Candidate, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu’s Second Term

Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has officially endorsed Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections.

In a personal letter signed on Thursday, Ambode expressed strong support for Hamzat’s candidacy, commending his loyalty, diligence, and long-standing commitment to the party over the past two decades.

Ambode’s endorsement followed the withdrawal of Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, from the race for the APC governorship ticket in Lagos State.

“I join my fellow members of the All Progressives Congress to congratulate my brother and friend, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, on his emergence as the Consensus Governorship Candidate of our great party, the APC,” Ambode stated.

He noted that Hamzat’s emergence reflects his years of service and dedication to the party’s ideals of unity and progress, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state effectively.

“I am sure that our State will benefit immensely from your wealth of experience and skills,” he added.

Ambode also reaffirmed his unwavering support for Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, stressing the importance of sustaining the current leadership for continued development.

“As I congratulate Dr. Hamzat on his adoption, I restate my unshakeable commitment to support the re-election of our leader, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR. I strongly believe that the greater prosperity of Lagos and indeed Nigeria is firmly tied to the continued governance of Mr. President,” he said.

The former governor further pledged to work towards delivering a landslide victory for the APC at both state and federal levels, targeting at least three million votes for Tinubu while also ensuring the re-election of APC lawmakers in the National Assembly.
