Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has projected an ambitious long-term political horizon, declaring its capacity to govern Africa’s most populous nation for the next century under what it describes as strong leadership and sustained policy direction.
The assertion was made by Muhammad Gadaka, Chairman of the APC in Yobe State, during the 2026 Yobe Leadership and Innovation Summit held in Damaturu. Represented by the State Party Youth Leader, Muhammad Musa Gulani, Gadaka expressed confidence in the party’s structural depth and ideological continuity, positioning the APC as a dominant force across Nigeria’s federal, state, and local government systems well into the future.
“The vision of our party is to improve the lives of Nigerians and make Nigeria a great country,” he stated. “This party will continue to form governments at all levels for more than 100 years.”
The remarks reflect a broader effort by the APC to reinforce its political staying power amid ongoing economic reforms and shifting public sentiment. Gadaka noted that the party is actively reassessing its governance record while refining strategic priorities to deliver measurable outcomes, urging citizens to maintain confidence in its leadership as reform measures take effect.
The summit also spotlighted governance at the state level, with commendations directed at Governor Mai Mala Buni. According to the event’s Chief Convener, Faruk Abdullahi Chiromari, the administration has significantly expanded youth inclusion in governance, appointing young professionals to key roles ranging from commissioners and special advisers to board members and local government officials.
