Harry Maguire Commits Future to Manchester United with New Deal Amid Resurgence

Harry Maguire is set to remain at Manchester United for at least another season after signing a new one-year contract extension, with an option to prolong his stay further.

The 33-year-old centre-back, who joined the club from Leicester City in a then-world record £80 million move for a defender in 2019, had been approaching the end of his previous deal before agreeing to fresh terms.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Maguire expressed pride and commitment to the club:
“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day,” he said. “I’m delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club and continue creating special moments with our supporters.”

Maguire’s extension comes amid a strong resurgence in form, having become a key figure since Michael Carrick stepped in as caretaker manager following a brief spell under Darren Fletcher and the departure of Ruben Amorim earlier this year. The club has since climbed to third place in the Premier League, reigniting hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification.

His improved performances also earned him a recall to the England national football team, marking his first international appearances in 18 months during recent friendlies at Wembley Stadium. The defender is now firmly in contention for selection ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Maguire has made 266 appearances for United, winning both the FA Cup and League Cup, while cementing his role as a senior leader within the squad.

Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire’s influence, highlighting his professionalism, resilience, and leadership qualities as vital assets for the club’s evolving squad.

Currently, Maguire is part of United’s training camp in Dublin as the team prepares for the final stretch of the season. The Red Devils are scheduled to return to league action against Leeds United at Old Trafford on April 13, aiming to maintain momentum in their push for a top-four finish.
