Kwara Civil Defence Deploys 2,280 Personnel Ahead of Easter Festivities

As Christians in Kwara State prepare to celebrate Easter, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,280 personnel across all 16 local government areas of the state.

The directive comes from the Kwara State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bodinga, who outlined the security measures in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, ASC I Ayoola Michael, on Thursday.

Bodinga said the deployment aims to prevent potential breaches of law and order during the Easter period and to stop mischief-makers from causing mayhem.

“The Corps’ presence will be visible and strategically positioned across churches, recreational centres, motor parks, shopping complexes, and other critical locations to deter criminal activities and ensure a safe festive period,” he assured.

He added that surveillance and patrol operations have been intensified in both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response squads on standby to swiftly address any emerging threats. Officers have been charged to take resolute and decisive action against individuals with criminal intentions, especially those bent on vandalising national assets or government infrastructure.

Bodinga further warned that anyone planning to disrupt public order during the Easter celebrations should desist, stressing that offenders would be apprehended and face the full weight of the law.

Extending his Easter greetings to Christians across the state, he urged residents to embrace the season’s values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence while cooperating with security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
