Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has challenged residents who claim their properties were demolished without compensation to come forward with evidence, insisting that no legitimate case has been ignored by the administration.
Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road project, where he addressed concerns surrounding property demolitions linked to ongoing infrastructure development in the nation’s capital.
The former Rivers State governor maintained that affected property owners who were entitled to compensation had been duly considered and urged anyone with contrary claims to publicly present their case.
According to him, residents seeking assistance or intervention from the FCT Administration should approach the government through the proper channels rather than resorting to public campaigns or allegations.
“So, if you say you have property and it was demolished and you were not paid, come and say so. I challenge anybody,” Wike stated while defending the administration’s handling of compensation issues.
He further stressed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not succumb to pressure or blackmail, adding that government officials remain committed to taking decisions they believe are in the public interest. Wike reiterated that the government would continue to stand firm in pursuing policies and projects aimed at the development of the Federal Capital Territory.
