Lagos State Government Rolls Out Traffic Diversions for Major Project Commissioning

The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across strategic areas of the state ahead of the commissioning of key infrastructure projects slated for Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the traffic measures are designed to ensure public safety and the seamless execution of the high-profile events. He urged motorists to plan ahead and make use of alternative routes to avoid delays.

On Wednesday, April 8, vehicular movement will be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. along the Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota corridors during the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge.

Traffic disruptions will continue on Thursday, April 9, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas for the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex.

Later that day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., motorists are advised to avoid routes around Victoria Island, particularly near the Eko Hotel & Suites, where an additional official event will take place.

To ease traffic flow and minimise inconvenience, personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be strategically deployed across affected areas. The government also confirmed the reinforcement of traffic management efforts with the addition of 500 officers.

The commissioning events are expected to attract significant attention, with Bola Tinubu scheduled to attend.
