The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the full digitisation of the authentication and evaluation process for academic credentials, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s public sector reform and digital transformation drive.
The Ministry said the new system is designed to enhance transparency, improve data management, and boost service delivery across the education sector. It also aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda to deploy technology for efficiency, data integrity, and evidence-based policymaking.
Under the new arrangement, all applications for authentication and evaluation of academic credentials will now be processed strictly online through the Ministry’s official verification portal.
Applicants are required to register and upload all relevant documents via the platform: essverify.education.gov.ng. In addition, they must request that their academic transcripts be sent directly by their institutions from official email addresses to ess1@education.gov.ng for verification.
The Ministry emphasized that physical visits for credential verification have been completely eliminated, as the entire process will now be conducted electronically.
Officials noted that the transition is expected to streamline procedures, reduce processing timelines, and strengthen the credibility of academic credential verification in Nigeria.
For further enquiries, applicants can contact ess.enquiry@education.gov.ng.
The Ministry urged all applicants to strictly adhere to the new guidelines to ensure smooth and timely processing of their requests.
