Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has attributed the sustained dominance of Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Davido to the intense rivalry between their fanbases.
Speaking during an interview with Korty EO, Blaqbonez argued that while artists themselves can maintain cordial relationships, competition among fans plays a crucial role in keeping musicians relevant and constantly in the spotlight.
According to him, the long-standing rivalry surrounding Wizkid and Davido has significantly contributed to their continued prominence in the music industry, nearly two decades into their careers.
“Wizkid and Davido can never fade. That rivalry is the reason they will stay relevant. When everything becomes love, it’s over. Artists can love each other, but the fans shouldn’t lose that competitive edge,” he said.
Blaqbonez added that fan-driven competition keeps conversations alive, sustains public interest, and ensures artists remain trending across platforms.
The rapper, known for his bold persona, also noted that he thrives in competitive environments and openly welcomes rivalry as part of the industry’s dynamic.
