WrestleMania Shocker: Nigeria’s Oba Femi Floors Brock Lesnar in Stunning Debut

Nigerian professional wrestler Oba Femi delivered a jaw-dropping performance on his WrestleMania 42 debut, defeating 10-time champion Brock Lesnar in under five minutes in one of the night’s biggest upsets.

The highly anticipated bout ended dramatically as the 27-year-old overpowered the veteran, sending shockwaves through the wrestling world. In a symbolic post-match moment, Lesnar left his wrestling gear in the ring widely interpreted in professional wrestling as a signal of retirement.

Nicknamed “The Ruler,” Femi showed composure early as both men tested each other’s strength. Lesnar briefly seized control with a series of punishing moves, but the Nigerian star absorbed the pressure and turned the tide with a dominant comeback.

The decisive sequence came after Lesnar executed his trademark F5, only for Femi to recover swiftly, deliver a chokeslam, and seal victory with his devastating “Fall From Grace” sit-out powerbomb.

Born Isaac Odugbesan in Lagos, Femi’s rise has been meteoric. After joining WWE in 2021 through its NIL programme, he built a strong reputation in NXT, where he became a two-time champion and also held the NXT North American title. He further cemented his status by winning the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.

A former shot put athlete, Femi has spent just three months on WWE’s main roster but has already made a defining statement on the global stage. His victory has sparked excitement among Nigerian fans, with many tipping him for an even bigger run.

The generational contrast was stark Femi, born in 1998, was just four years old when Lesnar made his WWE debut.

Following the match, Femi kept the momentum going during the post-show, calling out Roman Reigns, popularly known as the “Original Tribal Chief,” and hinting at a potential title clash later this year.

Standing at 6’4” and weighing around 310 pounds, Femi combined size, strength, and athleticism to full effect announcing himself on wrestling’s grandest stage with a victory that could redefine his career trajectory.
