Femi Oyetola Withdraws from Osun Central Senatorial Race, Cites Party Unity and Loyalty

Femi Oyetola, son of former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) contest for the Osun Central Senatorial ticket ahead of the party’s primaries. His supporters and political associates had earlier purchased the nomination form for him, positioning him as a contender for the 2027 election cycle.

In a letter dated May 18, 2026, and addressed to the APC State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, Femi formally announced his decision to step down from the race. He explained that the move was not taken lightly, acknowledging the overwhelming support he received from youths and stakeholders across Osun Central who had rallied behind his ambition.

He stated that after wide consultations and interventions from party leaders, he decided to withdraw in the interest of unity, stability, and the overall electoral success of the APC. According to him, the decision reflects his belief that collective party interests must take precedence over personal political ambition.

Femi appreciated his supporters for their encouragement and sacrifices, urging them to remain committed to the party and its leadership. He described their support as deeply humbling and reaffirmed his commitment to working with party members to strengthen the APC and ensure future electoral victories.
