The Federal Government has expressed concern over what it described as recurring errors in the official designation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by various organisations and media outlets, urging strict adherence to his correct title going forward.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, made this known on Friday in Abuja through a statement issued by his media aide, Yomi Odunuga.
He explained that the clarification became necessary following a recent error in the naming and appellation of the President in a publication by a national daily on Wednesday, May 7, 2026.
Akume stated that, “For the record, the correct and official appellation is His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
He urged members of the public, as well as media organisations, to verify official titles before publication in order to avoid what he described as preventable and embarrassing errors in both print and online reports.
According to him, such verification can be done through the office’s official communication channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and email.
