Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed reports claiming that he defected to the National Democratic Congress, insisting that he remains a committed member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Fubara described the reports making rounds in the media and across social platforms as false and misleading.
According to the governor, the speculation surrounding his political affiliation was based on misinterpretation and unverified information being circulated online.
“I know that there’s been a lot of drama in the media, one story and another. I’m a member of the All Progressive Congress, and nothing has changed,” he stated.
Fubara urged members of the public and political commentators to verify facts before spreading reports capable of creating confusion.
“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly,” he said.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, the governor stressed that he had no intention of leaving the party.
“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of the All Progressive Congress, and I remain a member,” he added.
Fubara also stressed the importance of unity and commitment within the party, noting that political interests should always align with the broader goals of the APC.
“Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interests of the party,” he said.
