The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has appealed to candidates to remain calm as the printing of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) original result slips is yet to begin. In a statement released on Tuesday, JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, explained that the delay is linked to the conclusion of foreign examinations and ongoing preparations for the mop-up examination for candidates who missed the main exam through no fault of theirs.
According to the board, the UTME is a ranking examination, which means the original result slips will include candidates’ rankings. JAMB stated that all examination processes and adjustments must be completed before the slips can be released to candidates. The board added that the printing portal would be activated shortly after the necessary arrangements are concluded.
JAMB assured candidates that they would be officially informed once the portal is ready for printing. The examination body also apologised for the inconvenience caused by the delay and appealed to candidates, parents, and other stakeholders for patience and understanding as it finalises pending processes.
The development has, however, generated concerns among many candidates, especially those preparing for post-UTME screenings, admission applications, and change of course or institution procedures. While waiting for the original result slips, candidates can still check their UTME results through JAMB’s SMS result-checking platform using their registered phone numbers. The update comes shortly after JAMB fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admissions in 2026.
