LAUTECH Dismisses Shutdown Rumours, Says Campus Activities Ongoing

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has denied rumours circulating on social media that the institution was shut down over fears of a possible bandit attack. The university said the claims were false, stressing that academic activities and ongoing examinations are continuing without interruption.

In a statement released by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Olalekan Fadeyi, on behalf of the Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the university assured students, parents and guardians that there was no security threat serious enough to warrant the closure of the school.

The management explained that students are currently writing their examinations as scheduled and that the university remains fully open for academic and administrative activities. It urged members of the public not to panic over unverified reports being shared online.

According to the statement, the rumour claiming that LAUTECH had been shut down because of fears of bandit invasion was misleading and did not reflect the true situation on campus. The university maintained that there was no immediate reason to suspend activities.

The institution also acknowledged that the false reports had caused anxiety among students, parents and other members of the public. Management expressed regret over the confusion created by the rumours and appealed to people to rely only on official information from the university.

The clarification comes at a time of growing security concerns in parts of Oyo State following recent attacks and abductions reported in some communities within Oriire Local Government Area. However, the university insisted that campus life remains calm and academic activities are going on normally.
