Afrobeat singer Made Kuti has stirred reactions after revealing that he did not kneel when proposing to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, explaining that he believes marriage should be based on mutual agreement rather than an act of supplication.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Timeless Podcast on Nix Network’s YouTube channel, the 30-year-old singer said he made it clear during the proposal that neither he nor his partner was “begging” to be in the relationship.
“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he said.
Made Kuti and Onyenso got married in a private ceremony held in Lagos in November 2023. He also revealed that his wife once had a prior connection to him from his earlier years, describing her as someone who used to be his school daughter.
