Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has reportedly been killed by his captors.
The armed attackers had stormed the school on Friday, May 15, abducting the principal, several teachers, and some students during the invasion.
The incident came weeks after an earlier failed kidnap attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road, which reportedly claimed the life of a traveler, further heightening fears over worsening insecurity in parts of Oyo State and across Nigeria.
Fresh concerns emerged on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after a disturbing video allegedly released by the kidnappers surfaced online, showing Oyedokun being beheaded.
The viral footage has sparked widespread outrage and intensified fears over the safety of the remaining victims still being held captive.
The development has plunged the Ahoro-Esinele community into mourning, with residents, families of the abducted victims, and community leaders urging security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity before more lives are lost.
