Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to bring his highly successful spell at Manchester City to an end this weekend, according to multiple reports. The 55-year-old has spent nearly a decade in charge of the club since arriving in 2016, building one of the most dominant teams in English football history.
During his time at City, Guardiola has won six Premier League titles and delivered the club’s first UEFA Champions League trophy, alongside a total of 20 major honours. He could still add another league title to his collection if City win their final two matches against Bournemouth and Aston Villa, while Arsenal fail to beat Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.
Reports from The Daily Mail and The Athletic suggest Guardiola is expected to step down after City’s final home match against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. While the club has not officially confirmed the speculation, it has not moved to deny it either, leaving uncertainty around the manager’s immediate future.
Interestingly, City have already planned a parade in Manchester on Monday to celebrate their League Cup and FA Cup triumphs this season, which could potentially serve as a farewell for Guardiola. Meanwhile, former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who previously worked under Guardiola at City, is being linked as a possible successor ahead of next season.
