Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, popularly known as Soso, has said that kissing scenes in movies are strictly for professional purposes and should not be mistaken for personal pleasure.
She made the remarks while reacting to recent comments by some actors who expressed dissatisfaction, claiming they had never experienced a “good kiss” on set.
Speaking during an interview on TVC, Soso explained that her approach to onscreen kissing is purely technical, noting that she does not involve her tongue during such scenes.
According to her, she keeps her teeth closed and uses only her lips to make the scene believable, while maintaining personal boundaries on set.
She added that she is careful about physical boundaries during filming, stressing that she is conscious of not “swapping saliva” with every colleague she works with, describing kissing scenes as part of the job rather than a romantic experience.
Reacting to complaints from some actors, including her frequent collaborator Saga Adeolu, she said it is “weird” for anyone to expect a pleasurable kiss on set, insisting that onscreen intimacy is purely an acting requirement.
