The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to set a 90-day deadline for Nigeria’s security chiefs to eliminate terrorists across the country or step down from office.
He made the appeal in a video shared on X on Tuesday, where he expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in the country and urged authorities to act with urgency.
Adeboye said security chiefs should be held fully accountable for delivering results in the fight against terrorism, stressing the need for decisive action to end the violence.
“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” he said.
He further urged the government to ensure that efforts go beyond targeting gunmen alone, insisting that those who finance and support terrorist activities should also be identified and eliminated, regardless of their influence.
The cleric also recalled advising a former Nigerian president to issue a similar ultimatum to security chiefs in the past, noting that although the directive was given, it was not fully enforced after the deadline, and said this highlighted the need for stronger political will and strict enforcement of security directives.
