Nigerian singer BNXN has sparked conversations on social media after claiming that living in Lagos is more expensive than residing in Los Angeles, California, in the United States.
The artiste, formerly known as Buju, made the remarks while reflecting on his experiences since arriving in the U.S., highlighting what he sees as key differences between life abroad and life in Nigeria.
According to BNXN, one noticeable change is the absence of the frequent financial requests he often encounters back home. He joked that since arriving in the United States, no familiar faces from the neighborhood had approached him for money.
“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, I haven’t seen one egbon adugbo asking me to press money,” he said.
The singer went on to compare the cost of living in both cities, arguing that Lagos places a greater financial burden on residents than Los Angeles. “Lagos is too expensive abeg. Lagos is more expensive than LA (Los Angeles),” he stated.
BNXN further explained that housing is the only major expense he has observed in Los Angeles, adding that once rent is paid, there are relatively fewer financial pressures. “The only thing expensive in LA is housing. Here you just pay your rent and you’re good,” he added.
