Dalung Warns Insecurity, Economic Hardship May Hurt Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has warned that worsening insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria could negatively affect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of re-election if urgent steps are not taken to address the situation.

Dalung made the remarks during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, where he spoke about the current state of the nation. He said many Nigerians are increasingly frustrated due to rising insecurity, unemployment and economic challenges.

According to him, insecurity remains the most critical issue for voters ahead of future elections. He argued that public perception of the government will largely be shaped by how effectively it addresses security concerns across the country.

He also listed other key challenges, including economic hardship, corruption and unemployment, saying these issues continue to influence how citizens assess the performance of the administration.

Dalung claimed that ordinary Nigerians are not benefiting from ongoing government reforms, alleging that only those within the government circle appear to be experiencing improvement in their living conditions.

He further expressed concern about rising tensions in parts of the South-West, particularly Ibadan, warning that incidents such as public outcries over theft and insecurity should not be ignored, as they could have broader political consequences if left unaddressed.
