Residents from various communities across Afikpo Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State have endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, as their preferred choice for the February 6, 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was made on Wednesday during an event in Afikpo tagged “Street Endorsement for Odii,” where supporters described the PDP flagbearer as a leader with the experience, competence, exposure, and network required to transform the state and accelerate development.
Speaking at the gathering, the Ebonyi State PDP Women Leader, Mrs. Chinyere Nwele, described Odii’s ambition as timely and necessary, arguing that the state needed a new direction free from the influence of political godfatherism, which she said had hindered progress over the years.
According to her, Odii remains the best option for Ebonyi people at a critical period in the state's history.
“Ifeanyichukwuma Odii is the leader Ebonyi needs to provide direction and effective governance. Given the current state of affairs, it is important for all stakeholders to unite behind a capable and competent individual who can move the state forward,” she said.
Nwele maintained that Odii possesses the integrity, leadership qualities, experience, and connections needed to reposition Ebonyi State and improve the lives of its citizens.
She warned that returning leadership to individuals lacking the necessary vision and commitment would be detrimental to the state's future, urging residents to rally behind the PDP candidate in the 2027 election.
Also speaking, the PDP senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South in the 2027 elections, Mrs. Maria Nwachi, appealed to residents to support Odii’s governorship bid.
The former member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, who represented Afikpo North-East Constituency, encouraged voters to make good use of their Permanent Voter Cards during the elections, expressing confidence that the state would witness significant progress under a PDP administration.
She described Odii as a humble and accessible leader who relates with people regardless of age, social status, or background.
Nwachi pointed to developments in neighbouring Abia State under Governor Alex Otti as an example of the kind of transformation she believes Odii can replicate in Ebonyi.
“This is the kind of change AnyiChuks wants to bring to Ebonyi State, but he cannot achieve it alone. He needs the support and participation of every citizen,” she said.
The PDP candidate for Afikpo North-East State Constituency, Mr. Iheukwumere Okogwu-Otu, also described the endorsement gathering as an important step toward restoring confidence in leadership and shaping the future of the state.
He urged residents to support the PDP governorship candidate, noting that the event reflected the people's trust in Odii’s ability to address the challenges confronting Ebonyi.
“We have not gathered here merely to endorse AnyiChuks; we are expressing our confidence in a leader we believe can move Ebonyi out of its current difficulties and place it on the path of sustainable development,” he said.
Similarly, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Afikpo North-West State Constituency, Ewa Chukwumaijem, called on residents to support Odii’s governorship aspiration and ensure they obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event drew supporters from several communities who pledged their support for the PDP candidate and expressed optimism about his vision for the future of Ebonyi State.
