El-Rufai Appears in Court as Corruption Trial Continues in Kaduna

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday appeared at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of proceedings in his ongoing corruption trial.

He arrived at the court complex under tight security, accompanied by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), as well as operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.

The case centres on allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and financial misconduct during his tenure as governor of Kaduna State. Prosecutors allege that public funds were disbursed for projects that were either not executed or were allegedly mismanaged.

El-Rufai, however, has consistently denied all the charges against him, maintaining that he is innocent of any wrongdoing throughout the period under investigation.

At Monday’s sitting, the court was expected to continue hearing motions and arguments from both the prosecution and the defence as the matter progresses.

The trial remains ongoing, with further legal arguments expected as both sides present their cases before the Federal High Court.
