The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has carried out an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki following a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forest area near the institution.
The visit, conducted alongside operational personnel of the command, was aimed at evaluating the security situation around the university and reassuring students, staff and parents of ongoing efforts to guarantee their safety.
During the assessment, CP Jimoh met with the university management and stressed the need to continuously strengthen the institution’s security architecture to prevent potential threats. He advised the management on practical steps to improve security within and around the campus while cautioning against actions that could weaken existing security structures.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Police Command, the Commissioner emphasised the importance of proactive security measures, particularly in perimeter protection, access control, and collaboration with relevant security agencies.
As part of efforts to enhance surveillance, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has deployed surveillance drones to support law enforcement operations around the university and nearby communities. The deployment, facilitated by the state government, is expected to boost aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering and crime prevention in the area.
CP Jimoh reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, assuring the university community of swift response to security concerns. He also urged continued cooperation between the institution and security agencies, as well as vigilance in reporting suspicious activities, while encouraging residents to use emergency lines to report incidents and help maintain public safety.
