Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has opened up about the extraordinary measures she took to portray Kemi Sanya in Blood Sisters 2, describing the role as one of the most demanding experiences of her acting career. The actress shared details of her preparation in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday while expressing gratitude for the positive reception of her performance.
According to Isime, the series quickly climbed to the top of streaming charts, reaching the number one spot on the Top 10 rankings within 24 hours of its release. Responding to questions from fans about how she delivered such an intense performance, she explained that she had to completely separate herself from her own identity in order to embody the character.
The actress revealed that she isolated herself for about a week before filming began and continued to spend long periods alone throughout production. She said the process was necessary to allow Kemi Sanya’s personality to fully take over, adding that the transformation sometimes surprised even those working on set.
Isime noted that after rehearsals, unexpected reactions from the character would emerge once filming started, leaving both cast and crew stunned. She described the experience as a significant risk for actors, explaining that becoming deeply immersed in a role can have lasting effects and that some performers struggle to fully return to themselves afterward.
The emotional and mental demands of the role also affected her professional schedule. Isime disclosed that after completing the project, she was unable to take on any new acting jobs for nearly two months because she felt completely drained and had nothing left to give creatively.
Emphasising her passion for the craft, Isime said acting is far more than a source of income or a pastime. She described it as her life’s calling and said she feels a responsibility to honour her talent, inspire her fans, and deliver exceptional performances. The actress added that settling for a safe or mediocre portrayal would have been unfair to both her supporters and the team that entrusted her with bringing Kemi Sanya to life.
