The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, has attributed the enduring peace and stability in Ogun State to the deliberate policies and strategic interventions of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on the administration’s achievements over the past seven years, Akinmade described peace and security as one of the governor’s most significant accomplishments, noting that they have provided the foundation for sustained socio-economic growth and infrastructural development across the state.
According to him, the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed across Ogun State is the result of conscious government efforts aimed at creating a secure and enabling environment for residents, businesses, and investors. He said the administration’s commitment to safety and social harmony has allowed economic activities to flourish, attracting both local and foreign investments while enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
Akinmade disclosed that the state’s economy has experienced remarkable growth under Governor Abiodun’s leadership, expanding from about N3 trillion to N17 trillion. He noted that the influx of investments has led to the establishment of new industries, the expansion of existing businesses, and the creation of employment opportunities, positioning Ogun among the fastest-growing economies in Nigeria.
He explained that the administration’s ISEYA development agenda has served as the framework for delivering critical infrastructure, improving social services, advancing education, empowering youths and women, and increasing agricultural productivity. As part of these efforts, the government has constructed, reconstructed, and rehabilitated more than 1,700 kilometres of roads across the state’s 20 local government areas, significantly boosting connectivity and economic activities.
The governor’s aide also highlighted achievements in housing and aviation infrastructure, pointing to the development of new housing estates in major towns to accommodate the growing population. He described the newly constructed airport as a world-class facility equipped with modern aviation technology, adding that it recently facilitated the airlift of Ogun State pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia. He further cited progress in agriculture, ICT, skills acquisition, and youth and women empowerment, including the establishment of Ogun TechHub to promote innovation and digital skills development.
Akinmade commended Governor Abiodun for completing several abandoned projects inherited from previous administrations, describing the move as evidence of prudent resource management and commitment to public welfare. He maintained that the governor has exceeded expectations in governance and service delivery and remains focused on consolidating existing gains to ensure that Ogun State is more prosperous, competitive, and developed before the end of his tenure on May 29, 2027.
